The endangered Asian elephant needs our help now more than ever. We live in a time where the actions of man have far reaching and disastrous effects. Asian elephants once migrated all over the Indian subcontinent up into two provinces of China; following the major rivers throughout that land to forage. Now, nearly 1/3 of Asian elephants live in human care. Elephants are revered as not only a religious symbol, but as family members to generations of mahouts. We at AES feel that because so many elephants live in human care without the possibility of reintroduction into the wild (both because of habitat loss and because many were born in human care and are therefore not wild) it would behoove us to help educate and empower those individuals who work directly with elephants. This gives both the mahout and the elephant the best possible chance of living a life with good welfare standards. Please join us on our mission to conserve the Asian elephant.
